The Goldfields Education Mining Industry Alliance (GEMIA) Inc was established in 2008 to lift awareness, knowledge and interest in mining, mining and other sciences, and regional employment possibilities through active engagement with school students and the community.

GEMIA comprises volunteers from the mining, education, government and community sectors. In the past five years GEMIA has delivered highly regarded programs and events to more than 20 schools and around 3,000 students and community members across the Goldfields-Esperance region and beyond.

GEMIA initiatives include:

The Girls and Guys Exploring Mining (GEM) Forum: a unique introduction to mining and related sciences with inspiring speakers, hands-on activities, tours, workshopping and career pathway information

Dust Off ‘Experience the excitement’: a teacher immersion in the world of mining and science designed to assist familiarity, build enthusiasm, provide new ideas and establish a mining sector link

Science Rocks on the Road (SRR): an exciting new program where industry volunteers help develop awareness and interest in science and the resources sector through a fun, interactive approach to presentations and activities within schools and communities throughout the region.
